How to Breed Bettas: Basic Set Up
1. Breeding Set Up
Although this is not a comprehensive infomation, but it is enough to start your very first betta spawn. Things you need:
Add half dosage of anti-bacteria and anti-fungus to prevent illness breaking out in the future. Let it stand for 12-24 hours. *** Next you release the male into the tank. Allow it to get accustomed to the new environment. Leave the male inside for about 12-24 hours. Once the male looks comfortable in it's new territory, place the female in the plastic bottle. The male will start courting the female and soon, it will begin to build a bubbles nest (hopefully under the cup). Leave the set up as it is until the bubbles nest is big and thick enough. *** To be continued... *This thread is for the FAQ and it's an on going process now, thus i'm taking pictures along the way. Comments and ideas welcomed. |

er....one thing i still dun quite get it. the bottomless bottle is free floating in the tank or izit secured? if free floating and the female is inside, how does the other betta get to it? wouldn't the bottomless bottle sink to the base of the tank? |

the bottle is to form a barrier between the male and the female to prevent too much damage they both need time to get accustomed to each other's presence. if you just dump the female inside, chances are there will be a small fight and injuries will be nmore serious. with the bottomless bottle method, the aggression is reduce when they are allow to come into contact with each other. erm.. does it answer your question? |
