Default GW - how to kick start - a pictorial guide

Tip of the hat to Desireless from RG, who was previously a member here and who painstakingly shared his experience with forumers here.

I took the cue from him to do my own GW a few years ago.

This is a guide only and his method is tried and tested and is comprehensive enough.

hi bro peter, would just like to confirm, what if we have the green water at normal range (not at 5 in the picture) would it still be necessary to change water?

can i just siphon the water out and add new water into the tank?

do we also need to keep the airstone open even if greenwater has already occured?

If its the 1st seeding, yes, do change water by keeping one litre (or just fill up an empty Coke bottle) of the original brew.

You also just siphon it out and add new water direct from the tap but remember to condition your water.

As for airstone, yes, keep it there at all times. Its the only other external 'accessory' you need.
