Default Availability of Charcoal Bamboo tubes

Hi, anyone know where to find Charcoal Bamboo tubes? It is quite common in Taiwan and Japan. I saw some in Waterbox (TW) but not for sale? It is used in CRS tanks.

Hi Bro,

I have just brought some bamboo charcoal from Daiso which comes in a small box of 8pcs to try out. However, it is not in tube form but just a sliced of the bamboo, therefore not as nice. I am thinking whether I need to replace it from my tank after some time just like active carbon.

I have also brought a pieces of burnt black looking bamboo tube, which I think is not charcoal state. I saw into 2 shorter piece and put into my tank as a birchir hideout. Got some slim after a few hours at the 2 ends, but my birchir is loving it.

I am now looking at the bamboo charcoal tube show on http://www.blacktonature.com/ which is more interesting. I wonder anybody has try out in their fish tank.

Hi,

The charcoal bamboo TUBE I am looking for is not the common one found in Daiso. It is really the raw state before being sliced into pieces or crush into bits. If you have seen some of the CRS magazines, they bundle the tubes and placed in the tank as a hideout for the shrimps. I know of a shop in Chinatown which sell bamboo charcoal stuff but not in tube form.

Thank you Bro Merviso,

The bamboo tubes shown in the website http://www.blacktonature.com/ is exactly what I am looking for. Called them but they do not have any to sell.

Hi Bro nbs,

I was about to ask you whether the chinatown shop that you have referred to is the same shop on the website.

Anyway, since they have the picture, maybe they will be interested to get some in if there are more demand. I was actually planning to go over to Chinatown Point to check them out when I visit my customer around the area. Let's see if other bro has any lobang on this. Cheers!

The one I bought from daiso looks like pure charcoal but cylinder shape. Is it ok to use?
It is labelled "Bamboo Charcoal"

Those whole piece, non sliced from daiso are too small for crs to hide. There are bigger charcoal around, the hole is at least 1 inch in diameter so crs will go in.

Regards to you, Bro silane

I actually started looking for bamboo charcoal after reading from your earlier post. Maybe you can stock up some so that we can buy it from you later since all those bro buying shrimp may be interested to try out too.

By the way, I'm going to start a shrimp tank soon and will be looking for you once my shrimp tank is ready for crs... cheers!
