Default White tank vs Black Tank for rearing Flowerhorn

Any experts care to share the difference?

Or is it solely based on genes and quality food

If lights not on for 4-8 hrs, Louhan will turn black, shine will be lost.

If black tank : make sure 4-8 hrs moderate lighting that's not too intense.

When both of you enter competition, blue tank, your black tank fish will beat his white tank fish.

They are a bit like "chameleon". Their body colour intensity adapt to back ground intensity. But I doubt the effect can last more than 1-2 hours.

For example, Taiwan kkp sellers like to put their fishes with black back ground with red lights to max out the redness.
