Nope. The ext gills is permanent for this species. Hence, called gilled lungfish.

Yes, it be different variant if external gills permanent.

All lung fishes have external gills when young but this specimen look quite big.
After about 7 inches they usually resorp.

This lung is abt 10inch at the moment.

This is the smallest in the group. Max under 2ft.
