That's what my big AA do to 4cm big tor sat. Peck till nothing left.

After 2 weeks of my last failure, I am not convince so I am trying it again. Unfortunately I am not confident that this lot can make it, I'd made some photos and perhaps some advice will be helpful, cheers

they're extremely stressed (very tightly clamped fins and tails) and some are starting to show the early signs of columnaris (white patches on fins/tails and disintigrating fins). I suggest starting an immediate full course of Furan-2 before it's too late

kudos to your never say die attitude

It will be better if you provide more info of your tank. PH? Are they eating? Any water change? Fins like this when bought or after how many days? What food you giving them?

The water PH is 7, still eating well(BW & BS) despite the stress, I have added API Anti-Stress Coat & FURAN2 as well. Personally I have serious doubt this batch can make it, that is why the LFS sold me at a song and hope for the best, I have manage to keep it for a week now, let see what happen

Bro, great to hear that they are eating, meaning is not so bad. Maybe you can lower your PH to 6.5 and change your water some(looks bit dirty from the picture). Add more aeration if needed.

Hope this helps....

Bro, sorry to say this and please accept my apology in advance if I do sound rude and hurt your feeling. It seems to me that no or insufficient preparation done for the introduction of AA to your tank. How can you expect your AA to survive?. Failed to prepare, prepare to fail, it as simple as that. Much has been said and shared by all in this thread, seems none taken.

However, like other here, I like to help you with your AA and hopefully the fishes can survive the ordeal. First and for most, do water change up to 50% and full dosage of medication for 3-days. Afterwhich, another 50% water change. Clean your filters. Bring down your pH between 6.0 - 6.5. Continue with half dosage of medication and monitor for a week. Do not overfeed them just enough so that there is no leftovers. Continue with 25-30% water change 2x weekly till all symptoms gone and fishes stable.

You can use pH stabiliser for discus to bring down your pH GRADUALLY by .2 over 24-48hrs. Make sure that you have your pH test pen ready before your start to reduce water pH. And do not forget about your anti-chlorine when you do water change.

Good luck and all the best.

I would like to add on the above.

First of all, change 30 - 50% water. After changing do the following if you deem so.

1) If Top & Bottom fins are burn, it's ok...but tail clamp.. serious

2) Water condition - New tank must at least run for 1 week or more. Measure PH and try to bring down to 5 - 6. How to bring down PH, I add vineger( those China brand, for human consumption type)

3) I add yellow powder during quarantine stage. How, add some yellow power with water into a normal ice mountain bottle. Morning 1 time, night time 1 time. Continue for 1 - 2 weeks.

4) Add a heater and set @ 32 degree for about 2 weeks.

PS: I only top up water in the tank after the above steps and change 30% of water after 2-3 weeks.

Don't worry I welcome constructive comments, in fact you have put it very well; indeed I did not prepare well when I got the AAs. The LFS was eager to get rid of the problem because the proprietor don't have the time to tend to the sick AAs. He sold me the 5 AAs for 40 bucks, in fact I was reluctant to buy it simply I wasn't prepared and has also given up. But what the hack for 40 bucks I decided to buy some time to enjoy the beauty of AAs, and also like to have my pride & ego back

So far the 5 AAs are still holding on and I will carry out your suggest to bring up the water quality, thanks
