What puffer fish and what crab?

Small puffer fish and big crab usually means death for the small puffer fish. As the crab will try to eat the puffer fish. Depending on whether the puffer fish has neurotoxin, the crab may or may not die.

Big puffer and small crab means the crab will die. The beak of the puffer can easily crush the crab up and eat it. But I'll have to admit that it will do some good grinding for the beak of the puffer.

If both the same size, I can't really predict until I know the type of crab and type of puffer.

As for your crab which died, how did it die? Did it die with any wounds?

So you got dwarf puffer I guess.

But if it is the puffer which died, then it should have been eaten by the crab. Maybe the puffer died not because of the crab?

Nah... The crabs probably won't die even after eating the puffer.

Puffers in captivity are usually "neurotoxin-free".

Save to touch, but don't put your fingers in your mouth afterwards.

The neurotoxin is usually found in internal organs of the puffer. Usually in the liver if I'm not wrong. But trace amount can be found in the skin. However, some puffer are not poisonous at all.
