read up a little - question is which flash to get? the 430 or 580? of course 580 is better, but on the G9, it seems very heavy! so will 430 suffice for aquatic photgrapahy?

and i can't help asking, where did u buy yr 40D and also where did u get the off camera shoe cable?

if comments are good i'll get the G9 this week!!
If you are considering the G9, might I suggest for you to look at the S5IS as a possibility also.
It has hotshoe for flash, the LCD can tilt (very useful capability!), extremely good macro capabilities (better than G9), has optical image stabilisation in lens plus longer zoom.

hi marshy, yes i did compare these 2 models as options.. but i chose G9 since it's much more compact/lighter and hence handy for holidays.. during which i make the most out of my camera..

but i was at the Canon shop at Vivo on sunday and the guy there told me the macro capabilities are exactly the same??

and G9 has IS in lens too right? yes, i'll have to give up the longer zoom...

GOT LOBANG FOR AF MEMBERS???

if you may look at my current AF gallery, all the pix were taken with canon A70 followed by G6.

G series is a good start but DSLR is even better. Trust me !!

I can't comment much abt the flash part as I took all those shots with a cheapo $75 flash even up to today but I understand shooting with canon original flash can be much painless.

* Got my set fm MS color in AMK and those cables etc fm those photography pro shop in Peninsular Plaza

Thanks for liking the pix.

I do WC / some glass cleaning once a week and I believed that they look "cleaner" as I don't usually over stock my tanks.

hehe, yes, more bonus for him, but it's a G9, not a 40D...

took hundred over only few can make it.. will post in new thread... but still need lots of time to play with the flash and camera settings...

bought the 430, prob more suitable for G9...

no worry lah, most of us are first a fishkeeper then a half bucket photographer

did you pick up any off-camera flash cord or ST-E2 transmitter for the flash ?
