Sharing my DIY LED Strip
Dear bros,
Just completed my DIY LED strip for my 5 footer after much research on the type of LED to be used. 1) LED Strip SMD 5050 (Cool White) @ 14.4W/m with 60 LEDs per meter 2) DC 12V 7A (84W) Adapter - I would advise bros to get higher Ampere as it enables you to add more LED strips when required 3) This support is from my previous OHF DIY project. Luckily I did not throw is away. Now, it can be put into good use The width LED Strip will fit nicely into the aluminum bar These bars are being slot into the side aluminum bar. And it is moveable. It means, if I want to add more strips, I can do it anytime. Holes are being drilled at the top of the bar to allow the wire to be pull through. The finish product... It is not as bright as my previous 5ft T5 lights. But I like the colour tone. Just nice for me to view my fishes... |

2) 5050 LED Strip (60LED/m) - I got it from ebay. But be careful when dealing with the seller. And please pay special attention to the specification of the LEDS. Some are cheap but only 1m. 3) 12V DC Adapter - You can also get this from ebay or Sim Lim Tower. There is a small shop operate by a skinny auntie right beside the entrance on your left. Dunno that is consider Level 1 or 2. For the Ampere (Watt = Ampere x Voltage), it depends how long and how many strips you intend to do your LED. I would advise you to get higher Ampere. To narrow down the Watt, every 3 LED (5 cm) is 0.72W. I hope these will help you out. |
