Yea. Water need to be cycled. Or else the plant will grow algae and turn yellowish easily.

Maybe a air pump will do. At least water moves as air is release.

water circulation is very important especially for planted tank.. plant will only grow well in a water that is alive (circulating with lotsa of life).. stagnant water will only introduce algae and mosquitoe and other insect..
just get a small water pump that is easily concealed in the tank.. |

Yes. Good to have a small filter. Not only to move the water but also helps to clean up all the rotting plants and such. Even if you remove all the leaves that are turning brown/yellow, sure to still have some you miss or some broken bits & pieces. Filter helps to clear them up also!

Biological filtration isn't very important when your planted tank is growing well, because ammonia is taken up by the plants. More important will be mechanical filtration to have crystal clear water
