Bro,
The pipe size can be roughly measure using a ruler.
If you place a ruler against the pipe and the biggest length
register by your ruler is the pipe size in mm or inch.
Or course if you have a vernier then it is more accurate.

This is how normally I estimate pipe size.
We are not very particular here because the
pipe size we use is either 1/2 or 1 or 1.5 or 2 inch.
So an estimate is ok?

Now need to size the sump tank keeping in mind :
1. Larger sump also must be able to hold excess water during
power failure without flooding or wetting your floor.

2. I use the sump calculator found in Reef Central
