Moray
Finally I found moray eels, in a seafood restaurant! had a chat with the boss and he is willing to help me buy one for me, so before I commit, I would like to hear comments and advice from fellow reefers here.... anyone with experience with morays...currently i have a 6x3x3....if that is not big enuf, I can use my 8x4 maybe in 9 to 12 months time. I am thinking of housing the eel with my 20" panther groupers. Will my big angels be safe? (I hv 2, koran and emperor). Wat about banners? I have the option of letting my friend adopt those fishes if they are at risk.... tia

Yea man it looked fierce... but did some research, think this is a Muraenidae specie, known as Gymnothorax Favagineus or commonly known as Laced Moray, or Honeycomb Moray, Leopard Moray or Blackspotted Moray... not as vicious as it looks and can be kept in tanks large enough as it could grow to 2m....

nice find!
6x3x3 would be a huge tank for most marine fish but when you're talking about a full size honeycomb... that "huge" tank starts to look quite small. of course given a suitably sized specimen and a careful regime, the fish could live in that tank for a good while. also i'm not sure where you read that they are not too vicious, because as far as i know they can be quite aggressive. actually among the most aggressive of the morays. |

http://animal.discovery.com/guides/f.../honeyeel.html http://www.whatsthatfish.com/fish/bl...tted-moray/118 I am thinking of a smaller size so it will last longer as my 8 footer wont be ready for anor 9 months. Thanks for yur comment. I am still debating but my heart is really geared for it.... Probably juz the moray, my groupers and lion, I may give up the angels tho they may not be at risk for the moment.... |

if you can find a smaller piece i would say go for it bro. truly an amazing fish, also on my wishlist. tankmates wise, you seem to have a good idea of the compatibility.
