redcross my ray keeps bobbing up and down the sides of the tank

1. why ray keeps bobbing up and down the sides of the tank...
- should i drop the water level ?
what can i do to prevent it?

2. and issit a necessity to have under water current for them....?

3. and will sudden temperature drop affect the ray
-cuz my heater juz broke about 2 hours ago...
(dun worry i partitioned my heater)
i absent mindedly took it out of water for 10 seconds to shift its position and it crumbled in my hands when it came in contact with air. bought only 2 weeks ago.... sianzz.

all rays go up and down the tank glass thats what rays do DO NOT LOWER THE WATER LEVEL

rays should be fine in a temp of 76-90f you should always have a hearter gaurd on your heater as rays get burnt easy if the heater has blown you need to remove it now DONT leave it in the tank turned on its very very dangerous
