Tank setup
Hi bros and sis, im new to this forum and i wana ask a few questions for all of u pple. Im oso nt sure of all the short forms u all use so go slow on me yah!!
I have a red (2) aro for 4 yrs now, its abt 10 inches and so far he is living ok nt as nice as all tat i have seen in the forum. My setup is a 4ft glass tank ht 2ft and width 1ft. Wc regime once every 2 wks 20-30%. Using external canister jebo 865uv capable of 2000l/h. 1) do u guys put an extra pump in the tank for water circulation? I put a cheap pump which cn provide 1200l/h. Is it necessary?any advice? 2) i wana introduce some blood parrots into the tank to make the tank look more lively. Hw much do i need to buy as i scared if buy 1 later my aro will hentam the newbie cos he has done it before to a few suckers. Any advice? Thanks alot guys!!! |

Actually I find that your tank is kind of small for arow. Dun know will tat Coz ur arow to stay 10 inch for 4yrs. Sound like ur arow is stun or due to space constrain end up dun grow well.

Hi bro,
Based on your tank dimensions, your volume capacity should be around 200 liters. Your pump is able to pump out 2000l/hr so I believe you should not require an additional pump. Of cause, if you want to add in another pump or air pump to provide extra water movement and oxygen no one is stopping you. So long as your aro can swim and feed properly without struggling to swim like crazy. I personally do not think you should add any more fishes. The main reason being: 1) your tank is way too small, especially the width (no offense, but 30cm width is not going to be enough to keep an aro) 2) if your aro is fierce than better not risk wasting your money to get those fishes killed 4yrs old and 10" for an aro (especially a red) is quite unbelievable. I'm not sure if you are just underestimating it. But if it is really the case, then your fish is seriously stunted. Might be a combination of feeding frequency and tank size, which the latter is probably the main factor. I think most bros here would be curious for a full tank shot. Thanks |

Is always good to have redundancy pump in your tank, as one might break one day without your knowledge and you won't end up with casualty due to lack of oxygen.
As for the tank size is always good to have at least 5 to 6 ft or even bigger, but is also depend on your home space can afford. Can I tell you to give up aro if you have space constraint? |
